Smart farming is not about smart sensors, it's about smart farmers!

Updated: Mar 28

Smart farming is not about smart sensors replacing farmers. Sensors are dumb! It’s about smart farmers who combine science, experience and sensors to make better decisions.

The "Agriculture Industry" is not unfamiliar with technology and there is no such problem as "lack of technology" in the industry. The problem, however, in many cases is the technology developed by genius outsiders who [because they have a degree in engineering] think they understand agriculture better than those who have been in ag for decades!

Machine learning, cameras, sensors, and any other complex computer or electronic system is nothing more than a bad joke if the developer does not have an understanding of agricultural systems.

Agriculture itself is also a broad area of science. For example, if you have a degree in animal science, it doesn’t make you an expert in irrigation water management unless you have actual experience and/or studied the science.

Working in agriculture is not about the money, it’s about the security and life style it brings.

At EnviTronics Lab, we develop technologies for agriculture, but we are not shy to tell our customers the shortcomings and limitations!

----------------------------

EnviTronics is an Agricultural Technology R&D lab led by a team of research scientists and expert agricultural engineers. We collaborate with companies, universities, consultants and growers to develop smart sensor technologies for agriculture, and to ensure the generalizability of these technologies from large to small scale growers, and suitability for research applications.
