ISHTAR 1P-LR
ISHTAR 1P-LR is a single-channel wireless node for DUL sensors. It relies on the LoRa radio technology to send sensor data far away to a gateway in a power efficient way. The ISHTAR node can be used in combination with our SHUSHAN CVI software or Node-RED for easy configuration and computer-based visualization and logging of data. In combination with a DUL gateway, several ISHTAR 1P-LR wireless sensor nodes can create a large wireless sensor network (star topology) with a radius of ~2 km (default radio settings). Sensor data is transmitted to the ISHKUR LoRa gateway, which can be connected to your computer using a USB cable or over WiFi. The ISHTAR 1P-LR can automatically detect DUL sensors connected to its port and can be operated out of the box with its default settings.
Note: The ISHTAR 1P-LR sensor node is not compatible with LoRaWAN gateways or networks.
Set Up a Local Wireless Sensor Network in Minutes
The ISHTAR 1P-LR relies on the LoRa radio wireless technology to send sensor data miles away to a gateway. You can have up to 100 ISHTAR 1P-LR wireless sensor nodes in a wireless sensor network (star topology) with a radius of ~2 km (default radio settings). It is also possible to combine the ISHTAR 1P-LR nodes with the 4-channel SHINAK 4P-LR wireless sensor nodes in the same network.
Data transmitted by the wireless sensor nodes is received by the ISHKUR G-WF LoRa gateway, which can be connected to your computer using a USB cable or over WiFi. We have designed the nodes and gateway in a way that you could prepare and configure the whole network in minutes, and anybody can do it!
Plug and Play with DurUntash Sensors
The ISHTAR 1P-LR is compatible with all DurUntash sensors. Just plug your sensor into the sensor node and it will take care of the rest! The ISHTAR 1P-LR sensor node automatically detects DurUntash sensors connected to its port and can be operated out of the box with its default settings. The ISHTAR 1P-LR has an updatable firmware meaning that future sensor models will also be supported with a simple firmware update using the SHUSHAN CVI-Wireless application for Windows.
Simple Protocol for Communication with Computer or Raspberry Pi
In applications where data needs to be accessed by a third party software or hardware, the user can communicate with the ISHTAR 1P-LR using simple command lines. Popular single-board computers and microcontroller boards such as the Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone and Arduino among others, can easily obtain measurements from the ISHTAR 1P-LR or send new settings to it over its USB port.
Easy Pole or Wall Mount
The ISHTAR 1P-LR comes with all the required hardware accessories that allow it be used in a tabletop configuration or two different wall-mount configurations. Additional hardware (pole mounting brackets) is available upon order to mount the sensor node securely to a pole.
Rechargeable Battery
The ISHTAR 1P-LR is equipped with a rechargeable Li-ion battery that can power the unit for several weeks (time varies depending on the measurement interval and type of sensor) of continuous use with a single charge. Battery voltage is monitored and logged by the sensor node as a separate parameter. Any standard charger providing 100 mA @ 5.0 V with micro USB cable type B can be used to recharge the battery.
As an option, we also offer a mini solar panel with micro USB cable to plug into the ISHTAR 1P-LR node and charge the battery whenever there is a light source. The solar charger provides much more juice than the sensor node consumes at its peak of power usage, so the node can survive weeks of low light conditions or cloudy days very easily. Alternatively, any regular or solar powered USB banks can recharge the battery while being used.
Dedicated Monitoring and Configuration Software
To give the user the best experience, we have developed a graphical user interface called SHUSHAN CVI to work with the ISHTAR 1P-LR sensor node. Here are some of the features of the SHUSHAN CVI:
Logging and Monitoring of Soil Moisture, EC & Temperature
The SHUSHAN CVI works together with our ISHTAR 1P-LR, ISHKUR G-WF gateway and DurUntash sensors (e.g. APAS T1 soil water moisture sensor, or HITA E0 electrical conductivity probe) to log and visualize measurements in real-time. Recorded data are available in text format (csv) and can be easily exported to a spreadsheet like Excel.
Configuration Utility
The SHUSHAN CVI can be used to upload new settings and calibration coefficients into the ISHTAR 1P-LR sensor node, and DurUntash Lab sensors.
Software Calibration and Temperature Compensation
By default, the ISHTAR 1P-LR sensor node automatically applies calibration coefficients to sensor readings to compensate for temperature change and to account for the soil type. As an option, the SHUSHAN CVI can be used to apply extra layers of calibration and compensation to measurements in real-time.
Applications
Moisture and temperature are recognized as important variables that influence plant productivity in both agricultural and natural ecosystems. Continuous monitoring of soil/substrate moisture is very important in different areas of science and engineering such as hydrology, soil science, geotechnical, ecology, meteorology, agronomy and controlled environment agriculture. Accurate soil moisture measurements are necessary tools in precision irrigation and water management. Substrate temperature is also a useful parameter in monitoring crop growth and can also be used for correcting moisture measurements. Soil moisture measurements can be used by farmers and researchers to determine water deficit and to specify the amount of water needed by plants.
